Description

The Högert Type S pipe wrench holds and turns round pipes and pipe connections. Its S-shaped jaw creates several contact points on the pipe; hardened serrated jaws provide the grip. This offset pipe wrench is made from forged chrome vanadium steel and can be adjusted with the adjustment nut. Five sizes from 1/2 to 3 inches are available.

Choose the size by the actual gripping range

The inch designation refers to the tool size. It must not be converted into an outside diameter in inches: the 1/2-inch wrench grips up to 35 mm, 1 inch up to 45 mm, 1.5 inches up to 63 mm, 2 inches up to 80 mm and 3 inches up to 95 mm pipe diameter.

Hold pipes and turn connections

Use the adjustment nut to position the jaws on the pipe and check the grip. When counterholding a connection, a second suitable tool may be necessary so that adjacent pipe sections are not turned unintentionally.

Consider the serration when choosing the tool

The teeth can leave scratches and pressure marks. Thin-walled pipes, plastic parts and sensitive surfaces require a suitable clamping or holding method. Remove oil and dirt from the handle and workpiece before working.

Frequently asked questions

Does 1 inch mean a maximum outside diameter of 25.4 mm?

No. Here, 1 inch is the size designation of the wrench. This variant grips pipes up to 45 mm outside diameter. Always check the assigned gripping range.

Does the S-shaped jaw prevent scratches?

The S shape improves grip, but the serrated jaws are not surface-friendly. Marks can occur on chrome, paint and soft materials.

Why do I sometimes need a second wrench when loosening a connection?

A second suitable tool can hold the opposite side. This applies torque specifically to the connection rather than transferring it uncontrolled into the rest of the pipework.
