PH, PZ, TORX and slotted are different screw drive types. Identify the drive type directly on the screw, then choose the correct size; a similar appearance is no substitute for this identification.

Drive type How to proceed Typical set selection
Slotted The blade width and thickness must fit the slot. Include only the widths you actually encounter.
Phillips (PH) Choose a screwdriver marked PH with the appropriate size number. Wiha lists PH1, PH2 and PH3 as separate sizes, for example.
Pozidriv (PZ) Do not treat PZ as equivalent to PH because of its cross shape. PZ1, PZ2 and PZ3 have their own size designations.
TORX The T size on the screw and tool must match. A set makes sense if you encounter several known T sizes.

Example: mixed furniture fittings

Before starting work, sort the screws by visible drive type and size. Have the correct screwdriver ready for each group. A bit set is an alternative if your holder and the included drive types are compatible; a fixed-blade screwdriver may provide more direct access for a frequently repeated fastening.
