Description

The Högert flap wheel 80 × 40 × 6 mm is designed for grinding metal on larger, easily accessible surfaces. Its flexible flap construction helps remove paint coatings, rust, sharp edges and burrs. G40, G60, G80, G100, G120 and G150 are available.

A larger grinding area for metal

The 40 mm-wide grinding zone is suitable for surface grinding, rust spots and weld preparation. A smaller version is easier to guide in confined areas.

Flaps with an aluminium oxide coating

The aluminium oxide abrasive is bonded with synthetic resin to a linen backing. The flaps yield slightly when applied to gentle contours. Excessive pressure increases the load and does not replace the correct grit.

Choose a drill or die grinder correctly

The flap wheel requires a drill chuck or collet suitable for the 6 mm shank. The machine must be suitable for an 80 mm tool diameter and this grinding work. Do not exceed 18,000 rpm; any lower machine limit also applies. The maximum speed is not a requirement for every operation.

Frequently asked questions

When is the 80 mm version useful?

The 40 mm-wide grinding zone is suitable for larger, easily accessible metal areas. In confined spaces, first check that the tool and machine have enough room to move; a smaller diameter may be more suitable.

Which grit should I choose for working on a weld?

G40 or G60 allow coarser removal; finer versions are used for subsequent smoothing. Do not unintentionally grind away load-bearing weld cross-sections, and observe the requirements for the component.

Can I paint immediately after G150?

That depends on the coating system and the substrate it requires. After grinding, dust, grease and other residues must also be removed appropriately.

Is a 6 mm collet alone sufficient?

The machine, permitted tool diameter and speed must also match. The shank must be held securely. This flap wheel has a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm; a lower machine limit takes precedence.
