Record four details about the trolley
| Point | Details to record |
|---|---|
| Load | Note the trolley's own weight plus its maximum payload; clarify safety and load-distribution assumptions using the manufacturer's information. |
| Floor | Describe the actual route, including smooth or uneven surfaces, thresholds and dirt. |
| Steering | Record straight sections, tight turns and required locking functions separately. |
| Mounting | Measure the plate, hole pattern, overall height and available clearance. |
Example: moving a workshop trolley through a narrow doorway
Weigh or determine the weight of the trolley and its maximum load, then measure the door width, existing hole pattern and maximum permitted overall height. Compare only castors whose documented load capacity, mounting arrangement and intended floor surface are suitable. The largest diameter may cause clearance problems at the door or beneath the trolley.
