Description

The Bradas White Line rain gauge measures rainfall directly in the garden. The transparent collection vessel has a scale up to 160 mm. A ground spike is included for positioning; alternatively, the rain gauge can be attached with two screws to a suitable wall, fence or shed.

Setting up in the garden

For representative readings, position the collection vessel as openly as possible, away from trees, coverings and tall obstacles. The ground spike allows placement in a lawn, bed or other suitable ground. Keep the opening level and protect it from additional splashback from the ground or walls.

Reading and emptying

Read the rainfall amount on the visible scale of the transparent vessel. After measuring, pour out the water before setting up the rain gauge again or leaving it on its bracket.

Frequently asked questions

How is the amount of rain read?

Read the collected water on the scale. One millimetre of rainfall corresponds to one litre of water per square metre. For example, a reading of 10 mm corresponds to 10 litres per square metre.

Can the rain gauge be fixed to a wall?

Yes, using the two supplied steel screws. The opening must remain clear and level; roof overhangs, wall drainage and splashback must not distort the reading.

Does the device require a battery?

No. Measurement is mechanical, using the collection vessel and scale.

Where should the rain gauge be positioned?

Preferably in an open location without coverings, tree canopies or nearby obstacles that could intercept rainfall.

What happens after taking a reading?

Empty the collection vessel so that the next amount of rainfall can be measured separately.
