GEKA-compatible couplings

For GEKA-compatible couplings, the system connection describes only part of the assembly. To choose a suitable product, you also need to check the hose tail or threaded end, seal, medium and operating range of the individual item.

Which dimensions apply to which end?

The original GEKA system uses a standard claw spacing of 40 mm, according to the manufacturer's information on GEKA quick couplings. This measurement describes the coupling profile; it is neither the hose diameter nor the thread size. A hose coupling needs a hose tail at the other end that matches the hose's internal diameter. A threaded fitting, by contrast, must match the type and size of the mating connection. The description “GEKA-compatible” must therefore not be understood as a guarantee that every connection end fits without checking.

Connection end What to check Common mistake
Claw connection Explicit system compatibility and claw profile Choosing solely by visual similarity
Hose tail Approved hose internal diameter and intended securing method Confusing the hose's inch size with the thread size
Thread Female or male, thread type and size Measuring only the approximate external diameter
Seal Shape, material, medium and temperature according to the item specifications Assuming any seal will fit universally

Choose in five steps

  1. Depressurise the existing coupling, clean it and photograph its markings.
  2. Compare the claw profile and system designation on both sides.
  3. Identify the hose size or full thread specification at the other end.
  4. Compare the medium, temperature and pressure or suction operation with the specific item specifications.
  5. Select the seal and securing method to suit the intended use; seek a professional assessment if unsure.

An adapter may have two correctly sized ends and still be unsuitable for the medium or operating conditions. Always check the full approval for the specific component. Couplings must only be connected, disconnected or serviced when depressurised; the relevant instructions remain decisive.
