Lay out the machine, drill bits, screwdriver bits, measuring tools and fasteners in the order you use them. Keep measuring tools at the clear front edge, give drill bits and screwdriver bits separate small compartments, and assign the machine a space with its accessories. Spare tools go in a case or cabinet. This gives each item a specific storage location based on how you reach for it.
For each job, start with the material and the planned step: measuring, drilling, cutting, fastening or finishing. Then visit Tools & workshop supplies and put together only the tool types you need. For cleaning and clearing the workspace, see Cleaning supplies.
Check walkways, task lighting and separate areas for wet or damaged equipment when it is actually dark. The guide Organising your workshop in autumn provides a compact walkthrough with decisions based on what you find.
