Example: an existing connection but an unidentified medium
A device and the existing line have similar-looking connections. That is not enough to select the device. If its documentation specifies only compressed air, it is excluded for another gas until explicit approval from the equipment manufacturer is available. Only then should pressure, temperature, the mating connection and what is included be compared.
Festo explicitly describes the linked regulator range as a compressed air solution and excludes water and hydraulic applications. This manufacturer example shows why the medium specification comes before the connection type; it does not approve other equipment or gases.
