Description

Construction and handling

The garden wire can be bent by hand and formed as required. Plants, tendrils and shoots can therefore be secured to trellis, espalier supports or fences. The soft PVC coating provides a softer contact surface than bare metal wire. Leave sufficient slack when tying so that the plant stem is not constricted.

Available variants

The available options are 3 mm × 8 m, 4 mm × 6 m and 5 mm × 4 m. The millimetre figure describes the coated wire and the metre figure the roll length. When choosing, consider the space at the tie point and the required cut length; these figures do not indicate a specific load capacity.

Suitable applications

The wire is suitable for tying up tomatoes and other plants, guiding climbing plants, securing espalier fruit and fixing plants to garden or trellis fences. It can also be used for simple craft and decorative work.

Frequently asked questions

Which variants are available?

The available options are 3 mm × 8 m, 4 mm × 6 m and 5 mm × 4 m. The suitable version depends on the planned application and the amount of material required.

Can the garden wire be bent by hand?

Yes. The metal core with soft PVC coating can be bent by hand and formed as required.

How do I secure plants as gently as possible?

Place the coated wire loosely around the stem or tendril and attach it to the intended support point. Check it regularly as the plant grows and adjust ties that become too tight. Even coated wire can cut in if fitted incorrectly.

How can the wire be cut?

Use a cutting tool suitable for metal wire. Afterwards, ensure the wire end is tidy and that no sharp point is positioned against the plant.

Does the coating protect the metal core at a cut end?

At an open cut end, the metal is exposed. Arrange wire ends so that they cannot injure plants or hands. Check damaged coatings before using the wire again.
