Choose paraffin to suit the lamp

Use only in lamps and storm lanterns whose instructions permit this paraffin as fuel. Paraffin and bioethanol are not interchangeable. Follow the exact fuel specification for different types of paraffin burner.

Fill and adjust the flame

Extinguish the lamp and allow it to cool completely before refilling. Absorb spilled paraffin before lighting the lamp again. Adjust the wick and flame according to the lamp instructions and never leave a lit lamp unattended. Low-odour paraffin does not mean emission-free combustion; follow the appliance ventilation requirements.

Keep children away from lamp fuel

Keep lamps filled with this liquid out of children's reach. Even a small amount of lamp oil—or sucking on a lamp wick—can cause life-threatening lung damage. A child-resistant closure does not replace safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Can paraffin be put into a bioethanol fireplace?

No. Appliances designed for bioethanol must not be operated with paraffin. The fuels have different properties.

Why is my paraffin lamp producing soot?

A wick turned up too far or an unsuitable wick, as well as the wrong fuel, can encourage soot formation. Extinguish the lamp and check the setting and fuel against its instructions.

When can I refill paraffin?

Only after the flame has gone out and the lamp has cooled completely. Remove spilled fuel before relighting.

Is the child-resistant bottle closure sufficient?

No. Filled lamps must also be kept out of children's reach. Even a small amount or sucking on the wick can cause life-threatening lung damage.
