Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right length?

Measure the required run between the attachment points. The bungee cord should sit under tension without being severely overstretched. There is no substantiated general rule that it should be stretched to twice its length.

Can I use it to secure a load on a roof rack?

Suitability as a load-securing device is not specified. Use suitable, appropriately marked lashing equipment for transport loads. Several bungee cords do not replace this requirement.

Are the plastic hooks safe to use on car paint?

Plastic can also leave marks when dirt is trapped or when it moves. Do not allow it to rub over sensitive surfaces, and use clean, suitable attachment points.

What should I bear in mind when unhooking it?

Hold the tensioned cord and release the tension in a controlled manner. Do not let go or pull it towards your face: a hook that snaps back can cause injury.

When should I replace a bungee cord?

Do not continue using it if there are cracks, damaged hooks or a noticeable loss of elasticity. After use, store it dry and protected from prolonged sunlight.
