| Manufacturer's statement | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| “Metal-free toe cap” | Only the named component is described. This does not provide a complete statement about the shoe's other components. |
| “Non-metallic penetration protection” | The statement concerns the sole construction. It does not answer the material question for the toe cap and fastening components. |
| “Completely metal-free shoe” for the exact model | The statement covers the shoe. Also check the relevant version and required protection marking. |
A workplace explicitly requires completely metal-free safety footwear. Option A states only “plastic toe cap”, while option B declares the entire model metal-free. A remains unverified for this requirement and needs further clarification. B can be assessed further. However, if B lacks the required protection class, it must also be ruled out. Both metal-free construction and protection requirements must be met.
If the issue is metal screening at an entrance, also clarify the organisation's screening requirements. The material specification does not provide a guarantee that a particular screening system can be passed without triggering a signal.
Try the shoe with work socks and an insole approved for it. Switching to an arbitrary comfort insole can change the tested combination. If the shoe pinches at the front while the heel fits well, try a different width or shape; simply buying a larger size can reduce heel support. Check both feet when standing and walking. Even with a good fit, the required protection class and the statement covering the entire model remain necessary.
