For 16 mm drip hoses

The barb connections are intended for compatible 16 mm drip hoses. In addition to hose diameter, the internal dimensions, wall thickness and hose type must match. The threaded connections are 1/2 inch; this thread size is not a conversion of the 16 mm hose size.

Contents and installation

Included are one tap connector with 1/2-inch female thread, one valve with 1/2-inch male thread, five valves with 1/2-inch female thread, ten 16 mm tees, five tees with 1/2-inch male thread, five 90° elbows, ten end plugs and five straight 16 mm connectors. Compatible drip hoses are required separately.

Planning and seasonal use

Tees are suitable for branches and elbows for changes of direction. Above-ground installation on soil or beneath mulch makes the connectors easier to access. Before winter, drain the water from the lines and store the accessories in a frost-free place.

Push the hose onto the barbs

Cut the hose ends cleanly and at a right angle. Push the hose fully onto the relevant barb and check the connections for leaks after filling. Connect threaded fittings to a suitable matching part.

Will the connectors fit every 16 mm hose?

The parts are designed for compatible drip hoses. Because the hose is pushed onto a barb, the internal dimensions, wall thickness and hose type must also match. The same outside diameter alone does not guarantee a leak-tight connection.

Why are both 16 mm and 1/2 inch specified?

16 mm refers to the hose system. 1/2 inch refers to the threads on the tap connector, certain valves and tees. These are different connection specifications.

Can I shut off several line sections?

The set contains six valves: one with a male thread and five with female threads. With the matching tees and connections, individual branches can be made switchable.

Do I also need a pressure reducer?

This depends on the supply pressure and the pressure limits of the hose and fittings. Observe the permitted values for the complete system and limit the pressure with a suitable pressure reducer if necessary.

What else is needed for a working drip irrigation system?

The set contains connection parts. Add compatible lines, the water supply and, depending on the drip hose, a filter and pressure regulation. Also consider water requirements and line lengths when planning.
