Bioethanol for fireplaces, fondue and camping

Use only appliances suitable for this liquid fuel. Gel fuel and paraffin are not equivalent alternatives. Follow the appliance instructions for positioning and operation, particularly minimum clearances and adequate room ventilation. Odourlessness is not a promise of emission-free combustion.

Extinguish and cool before refilling

Never refill a burning or hot burner. Before filling, make sure the flame is completely extinguished and allow the appliance to cool completely. An ethanol flame can be difficult to see. Observe the maximum filling level and remove spills before lighting.

Choose the right container size

The 1-litre bottle is convenient for occasional use. The 5-litre variant provides a larger supply. The container size does not change the burner's permitted filling quantity. Store the supply tightly closed, out of children's reach and away from ignition sources.

Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Wear eye or face protection. If in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes; remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, then continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists, seek medical advice. Dispose of contents and container according to local regulations. Not suitable for consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Can I refill when there is barely any flame visible?

No. Ethanol flames can be difficult to see. The burner must be safely extinguished and completely cooled before refilling.

Can I use bioethanol instead of gel fuel?

Only if the appliance instructions expressly permit this liquid fuel. A burner designed for gel is not automatically suitable for liquid bioethanol.

Do I need to ventilate even with odourless bioethanol?

Yes. Odourless does not mean emission-free. Follow the appliance's room and ventilation requirements; never leave an open flame unattended.

Is the bioethanol suitable for fondue?

Yes, as fuel in an ethanol fondue burner designed for it. It is not food and must not come into contact with food.

Does the 5-litre variant burn for longer than the 1-litre variant?

The larger variant contains more fuel. The burn time of an individual filling depends on the burner, filling quantity and operation; never fill the burner beyond its permitted filling quantity.
