Choosing the diameter and profile

The round profile has a circular cross-section. Star and square profiles have edges. Suitability depends first on the line diameters and profiles approved for your machine. A thicker line is not automatically the better choice: it must fit the line guide and be suitable for the machine.

Refilling the line

Cut a suitable length from the 100-m spool and wind it into the existing spool head according to the operating instructions. Check the maximum permitted line diameter and profile shape beforehand.

Is the 100-m roll a ready-to-use replacement spool?

No. It is refill line. Cut it to the length specified by the machine manufacturer and insert or wind it into the existing line head.

Can I use 2.4 mm instead of 2.0 mm?

Only if the machine and line head approve 2.4 mm. A larger line diameter can place greater strain on the line guide and machine. Check the operating instructions.

What is the difference between round, star and square line?

The cross-section is either round or has pronounced edges. This can affect cutting behaviour. Without comparable operating conditions, no general ranking for durability or cutting performance can be established.

How can I avoid problems when refilling?

Secure the machine against accidental starting. Follow the instructions for line length, winding direction and line-head capacity. Place the ends through the intended guides and close the head correctly.
