Description

The Bradas splitting axe is designed for splitting firewood and logs. Its wedge-shaped hardened steel head drives the wood fibres apart on impact. The fibreglass-reinforced handle and non-slip TPR grip support control during use. Versions weighing 1,000 g, 1,500 g or 2,000 g are available.

Weight matched to wood thickness

The 1,000 g version is suitable for thinner logs and kindling. The 1,500 g version offers a versatile middle option for typical splitting tasks. The 2,000 g version is available for larger log sections. Select the required version separately.

Handle and grip

The fibreglass-reinforced handle is more weather-resistant than an untreated wooden handle and may dampen vibration. The TPR surface supports a secure grip in damp conditions or with sweaty hands. The axe is specialised for splitting; a slimmer general-purpose blade is better for delimbing.

Frequently asked questions

Which weight class suits which wood?

1,000 g is intended for thinner logs and kindling, 1,500 g is a versatile version, and 2,000 g is for larger or more difficult-to-split pieces of wood.

Can the splitting axe also be used for delimbing?

The construction is designed for splitting. An axe with a slim general-purpose blade is more suitable for delimbing, chopping and versatile gardening tasks.

What are the benefits of the fibreglass handle?

The fibreglass-reinforced handle is weather-resistant and may dampen vibration. This does not imply complete break resistance.

Is the blade sharpened and can the handle be replaced?

The fibreglass handle is permanently connected to the head and is not a replaceable wooden handle. Do not continue using the axe if there are cracks or a loose connection.

How do I maintain the cutting edge?

Clean and dry it after use. If needed, follow the existing cutting angle with a suitable sharpening stone; do not overheat the edge.
