From workflow to a complete set of equipment
- If full-body coverage is required, compare protective coveralls suitable for that purpose. A single supplementary garment is not a complete substitute.
- If the hands, feet or face remain at risk, plan suitable additional protection. Coveralls do not automatically protect these areas.
- Several separate stages of work may require several changes. Base the number of replacements on the intended removal and changing procedure, rather than solely on the number of people.
Selection example
Two workers need to work in a contaminated area followed by a clean area. One set of coveralls per person is only a complete purchase if the planned workflow allows it. If equipment must be removed and discarded before moving between areas, plan replacements accordingly; a contaminated outer surface must not be carried into the clean process.
The type of protection needed depends on the substance and exposure. The specific instructions for use determine what may be reused after a task; washing or disinfecting a disposable item does not automatically make it suitable for reuse.
