Description

The Högert screw clamp holds workpieces during gluing, alignment and machining. The movable arm can be positioned roughly on the profiled steel rail; the threaded spindle is then tightened by hand. Plastic caps reduce direct contact between the clamping jaws and workpiece. 15 sizes from 150 × 50 to 1500 × 120 mm are available.

The screw clamp has a steel profiled rail, a movable arm and a wooden handle. The plastic caps sit between the clamping jaws and workpiece.

Variants

The first measurement is the clamping capacity and the second is the throat depth. Consider the workpiece width, packers and the depth of the required clamping point. Depending on the version, throat depths of 50, 80 or 120 mm are available.

Use

To secure a workpiece, position the jaws, tighten the spindle by hand and check the contact surfaces. Clamping pressure must suit the workpiece and joint.

What is the difference between clamping capacity and throat depth?

Clamping capacity is the maximum distance between the clamping surfaces. Throat depth describes how far the clamp reaches from the workpiece edge to the clamping point. Both measurements must suit the project.

How many screw clamps do I need for gluing?

This depends on the workpiece, joint, adhesive and required pressure. Follow the adhesive instructions and distribute the clamps so that the joint closes evenly. There is no universal spacing.

Can a pressure mark occur despite the plastic cap?

Yes. Excessive pressure or a small contact area can indent soft material. Clean, suitable packers increase the contact area; control the clamping pressure carefully.

Can I secure wood and metal with the same clamp?

The clamp can be used for suitable workpieces made from either material. Check the clamping point and surface, and use suitable packers for sensitive parts. Keep the plastic caps away from strong heat.
