Attachment points and functions

The extended rear D-ring serves the fall-arrest function to EN 361. The two side D-rings belong to the positioning function to EN 358 and are not fall-arrest points. Lanyards must be suitable for these different purposes.

Material and adjustment

The webbing is made from nylon; the fittings are made from alloy steel that has been heat-treated. Pre-formed padding and adjustable shoulder, chest and leg straps support the fit. The fastenings are flat metal buckles.

Load, inspection and use

The permitted total load is a maximum of 100 kg, including body weight, clothing and carried equipment. Check the harness for damage before every use; additionally, as required and at least every twelve months, it must be inspected by a competent person. The harness is used as part of a suitable fall-protection system.

Can I use the side D-rings for fall arrest?

No. They are for positioning. The FP15 has the designated rear D-ring for fall arrest. The instructions for use and a suitable complete safety system are authoritative.

Does the 100 kg limit apply only to my body weight?

No. Clothing and carried equipment are included in the permitted total load of maximum 100 kg.

Can I always use the harness for ten years?

No. Ten years from the date of manufacture is the maximum period. Wear, damage, loading or inspection results may require earlier withdrawal. The date is shown on the product label.

Are the lanyard and carabiners included?

No. Both must be selected separately to suit the intended system.

How often is inspection required?

Check for visible damage before every use. In addition, a competent person must inspect the harness as required and at least every twelve months. Shorter intervals may result from the conditions of use and the instructions for use.
