Map out the entire zone
- Draw the water source and connection up to the start of the water-releasing section.
- Use the permitted length, pressure range and installation method specified for the particular model.
- Add branches, valves and separately controlled sections to the sketch.
- Do not combine outlets with significantly different requirements in the same zone without a verified system design.
- Before finalising the layout, observe water distribution as instructed and adjust the plan if there are noticeable differences.
Example: two separate beds
Measure the supply line and water-releasing section separately for each bed. If a shared run exceeds the model's specification or cannot be controlled effectively, plan separate zones instead of one long improvised branch. The precise configuration and operating limits depend on the components used.
Check distribution and running time
Check the start, middle and end of the visible run using the manufacturer's specified procedure. Weather and soil affect actual demand; a fixed daily running time does not replace these observations. For outdoor areas, the German Environment Agency recommends measures including adjusting irrigation timing and methods, and watering targeted areas rather than the entire site.
