Hospitality workwear

Hospitality workwear depends on the task in the kitchen, at the serving counter or in table service. Establish your workplace's clothing and care requirements, then choose a top, trousers and apron to suit the movements involved.

Combine garments to suit the task

Area Common selection question Check
Kitchen How do the top, trousers and apron work together? Movement, fastenings and workplace requirements
Serving counter Which pockets are needed? Contents, accessibility and secure closure
Table service Which cut allows your usual walking and reaching movements? Shoulder width, body length and trouser fit

Check the fit while moving

Check reaching forwards, bending, turning and walking for longer periods. The top should overlap the trousers as required for the particular workplace. For aprons, consider tie length, coverage and pocket position.

Confirm care requirements

The material name and colour do not replace the care label. Compare the care instructions for the specific garment with workplace requirements and allow for enough changes of clothing. Any special protective or hygiene properties must be supported by documented specifications.
