Check the fit over other clothing
- Take your chest and torso measurements according to the size chart.
- Allow for your usual clothing underneath when choosing.
- Check the sleeves when reaching forwards and raising your arms.
- Sit down to check the position of the hem, fastening and pockets.
Length and fastening
A longer coat provides more coverage but may sit differently when you are seated or using stairs. Check the actual back length rather than relying only on the size label. For the fastening, consider how wide it opens, how easy it is to use and how it fits when closed.
Pockets and care
Compare pocket size and position with the items you intend to carry. Then read the care label and check it against your workplace washing and changing requirements. A work coat is not protective clothing simply because of its design; special functions must be explicitly stated.
