Description
The Verto digging fork is suitable for loosening garden soil, moving compost and lifting potatoes. The fork has four slightly curved steel tines with a flat rectangular cross-section, a wooden shaft and a plastic D-grip.
Tines and soil work
The four steel tines support work in the soil, including loosening ground, handling compost and harvesting potatoes. Their flat, rectangular curved shape helps with lifting and moving soil material.
Shaft and grip
The wooden shaft is guided using the plastic D-grip. Work in manageable sections and do not use great levering force on the shaft to prise out firmly embedded stones.
Shaft socket and care
Remove soil after use, dry the head and shaft, and store the fork in a dry place. Check the connection between shaft and fork head regularly for secure attachment. Treat the wooden shaft with a suitable wood-care product when required.

Frequently asked questions
How should I use the digging fork when harvesting potatoes?
Insert it into the soil at a distance to the side of the plant and carefully lift the soil. Tines placed too close can pierce tubers. Adjust the distance to the spread of the plant.
When is a digging fork more useful than a spade?
The tines are suitable for loosening and working through soil or compost. A spade is more suitable for making a clean cut, removing turf or digging a trench.
Can I use it to lever out firmly embedded stones?
The fork is intended for soil work. Loosen large, trapped stones with a suitable tool rather than placing heavy sideways loads on the wooden shaft or individual tines.
What should I check on the wooden shaft before use?
Check for cracks, splinters and a loose connection to the head. Repair or replace damaged parts before further use.
