The Bradas brass claw coupling connects a 1¼-inch male thread to a GEKA-compatible coupling system. Screw the female thread onto the matching connection point. The hose connection can then be released at the claw side without unscrewing the threaded fitting each time.

Female thread for a fixed connection

The connection point requires a matching 1¼-inch male thread. A smaller tap thread cannot be connected directly. The thread type and intended sealing method must also match.

GEKA-compatible claw side

A matching counterpart coupling is required for connection. Position both claw sides and twist them against each other. Clean sealing surfaces and an undamaged coupling seal are essential for the connection.

Sizing the water flow correctly

The actual water flow depends on the complete system: line pressure, hose length, hose diameter and other fittings all contribute. The 1¼-inch thread size alone is not a flow-rate specification.

Do I need a female- or male-thread fitting?

This female-thread fitting fits an existing 1¼-inch male thread. If your connection point has a female thread, you need a matching male-thread fitting.

Is the claw coupling sealed with thread-sealing tape?

The claw side seals through the coupling seal. On the threaded side, the sealing method depends on the connection design. Use thread sealant only where the connection is designed for it.

Is this a standard plug-in coupling for garden hoses?

No. It uses a GEKA-compatible claw connection. A simple garden-hose plug-in coupling cannot be attached directly to the claws.

Can I open the coupling under water pressure?

Shut off the water supply and depressurise the connection before disconnecting. This prevents a pressurised jet of water from escaping when it is opened.
