Check the most demanding cut first
| Starting point | Decision | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Straight crosscutting | Compare the largest workpiece cross-section with the straight-cut capacity | Machines that are too small are ruled out before comparing accessories. |
| Mitre cut in the plane of the workpiece | Check the required angle and capacity at that exact setting | The angle setting and workpiece dimensions are suitable for the same cut. |
| Additional bevel | Refer to the manufacturer's specification for the combined setting | A general maximum width is not assumed to apply to the bevelled cut. |
Example: a mitre cut in a wide skirting board
Note the board's width, height and desired angle. Check the capacity at that exact setting before looking at blade mounting and stated material suitability. Long boards also need secure support on both sides of the cut. Suitable accessories: Saw blades & Saw accessories.
