Saw blades & accessories

A saw blade must first fit the saw and its blade mounting. Material, thickness and the desired cut finish come next. A blade for a clean, straight cut in wood is not automatically the right choice for curves or rapid material removal.

Four decisions that narrow down the blade

Question What it means for your choice
Which saw? The machine instructions determine the blade shape, mounting and permitted dimensions.
Which material? The specific blade must be explicitly suitable for wood, metal or composite material as required.
How thick? The stated cutting capacity or suitable material thickness must cover the workpiece.
What result? Fine tooth pitch is used on a Bosch wood blade specifically for clean cuts; progressive pitch can cover different thicknesses. This only applies if the particular blade is specified accordingly.

Example: a visible edge on a wooden board

Record the saw type, blade mounting and board thickness. Then look for a wood blade specified for these requirements, with an emphasis on a clean cut. For a tight curve, you must also check the blade geometry and intended cutting radius; “clean” alone does not answer that question.
